TURN YOUR PICTURE THE RIGHT WAY.

Image Rotator & Flipper

Rotate a sideways photo, mirror a picture, or straighten an image with a custom angle. Preview the result, choose a transparent or solid background, and download a new copy. Your originals stay unchanged.

Rotate and flip

Use -360 to 360, including decimals. Negative values turn left. The canvas expands to keep the full image; angled rotations add corners.

Flips use the original image’s horizontal and vertical axes, then rotation is applied. All images in the batch use the same settings.

PNG and WebP can preserve existing transparency. Converting an opaque image does not remove its background.

Quality controls lossy encoding, not a percentage of original detail retained. A setting of 100 does not guarantee lossless JPG or WebP.

Every result is re-encoded. File size may increase; JPG and WebP can lose detail. PNG ignores the quality control. To resize first, use the image resizer; for a file-size target, use the image compressor.

Fix a sideways or mirrored video

Use the video rotator and flipper to apply quarter turns and flips, preview frames, and export MP4 or WebM.

Right angles or a custom tilt

Use the 90° buttons for sideways pictures, or enter a custom angle such as -2.5° to straighten a horizon. Positive angles turn clockwise. The output canvas expands to include the whole rotated image. At 90° and 270°, width and height swap; at 180°, dimensions stay the same.

Custom angles resample pixels and add empty corners. If you need a rectangular composition without corners, rotate here, download, then use the image cropper. Use the image resizer if expanded dimensions exceed your upload limit.

Mirroring and the order of operations

Horizontal flip exchanges the original picture’s left and right sides. Vertical flip exchanges its top and bottom. If both are selected, both reflections happen before rotation. This order matters when combining a flip with an angle. Check text, logos and directional signs, because mirroring reverses them too.

Camera orientation supported by your browser is applied when the image is decoded. Rotation starts from that displayed orientation rather than the raw camera sensor’s orientation.

Transparency and output format

PNG and WebP can preserve transparent corners and existing alpha. JPG always fills those areas with your selected background colour, initially white. A solid background also blends partly transparent edges. This does not remove an existing opaque background.

Keep original format means the same file type, not the same encoded bytes or metadata. Every result is re-encoded; JPG and quality-based WebP may lose detail even at quality 100. Quarter turns use exact geometry, but this is not a lossless JPEG bitstream rotator. Colour profiles, metadata and appearance may change. Keep originals.

Local processing and batch limits

Your selected image contents are processed in this browser without uploading them for rotation. The website still loads scripts and shared services. A batch uses the same settings and always starts from the originals. Changing settings removes stale downloads; cancelling keeps completed results. ZIP contains available results only, with unique filenames.

Up to 20 still JPG, PNG or WebP files, 25 MiB each and 200 MiB combined. Sources and expanded outputs must stay within 12,000 pixels per side and 40 megapixels; available results are capped at 200 MiB. Device memory can require smaller batches. Animated PNG/WebP, GIF, SVG, HEIC and AVIF are unsupported. Clearing or reloading loses the current session but does not delete your originals.

Image rotation questions

Can I undo edits?

Undo and Redo restore up to 100 changes to angles, flips, background colours and output settings, including Reset rotation and flips. Typing and slider movements are grouped until you finish that control. Outside form fields, use Ctrl/Cmd+Z to undo and Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y to redo. Inside fields, normal text editing shortcuts apply. History covers settings, not adding/removing files or switching the preview. Undo removes old downloads; apply again to export the restored settings. Reloading clears history.

Will rotating crop my picture?

No. The canvas expands to keep the full rotated picture. Custom angles create corners; choose transparency or a solid background.

Why are the dimensions larger after a small rotation?

The rotated rectangle needs a larger axis-aligned canvas. For example, a 1200 × 800 image rotated 45° needs 1415 × 1415 pixels. The picture itself is not enlarged to fill the corners.

Can I preview each image before applying the batch?

Yes. Choose a file in the Preview image selector or use Edit preview on its row. The same angle, flips and background apply to every file. Apply again after changing settings to create fresh downloads.

Does a zero-degree export keep the original file untouched?

Your original remains untouched, but the downloaded copy is re-encoded even at zero degrees. Re-encoding can change file size, metadata, colour handling and detail.
