Check the arrival point with someone unfamiliar
For an event, ask a permitted tester to open the link while signed out and confirm the public entrance, rather than relying on the venue owner’s saved map. An apparently correct pin can still direct drivers to a service road or inaccessible entrance.
Print the street address and relevant access instructions beside the image. The linked map service may request location permission or process activity under its own rules, even though this generator does not obtain live GPS data. Review the destination’s behaviour separately from QR generation.
Copy the share link for the exact place
- Open the location in your chosen map service. Check the pin, place name, and entrance you want visitors to find.
- Use that service’s share or copy-link option, then paste the complete HTTP or HTTPS address above.
- Open the copied link in a private or signed-out browser window to check that it is useful to someone without your account.
- Generate the QR image and scan the export. Confirm the map opens at the intended place, not just a broad search result.
Location link versus live location
A static map link can point to a business listing, a dropped pin, a directions page, or another public location page. The code does not update with your movements, itself obtain visitors’ GPS coordinates or publish live location data. Which map app opens depends on the URL and the scanning device.
This page does not offer latitude-and-longitude fields or a geo URI mode. If you have coordinates, use your map service to create an appropriate public link first. Keep the underlying destination accessible for the life of the printed sign.
Give visitors context outside the code
For an event venue, print the address, entrance name, or meeting instructions alongside the QR image. A scan should help with navigation, but a readable address remains useful when mobile connectivity is poor. Check whether the link points to the public entrance rather than an office, loading bay, or private access road.
Printable signs can use a custom title such as Find the reception entrance and a short description. Choose the QR width in Print assistant and test the printed copy where the sign will actually be displayed.
Troubleshoot the link separately from the image
Payload verified means the rendered image contains your pasted URL. It does not confirm a business listing is current, verify opening hours, check route accessibility, or test directions. If the QR scans but the wrong place opens, replace the destination link rather than changing the image design.
For several venues, the bulk URL generator can create one named code per location. Use descriptive filenames and review each map link before making signs.
Questions about this tool
Can I use a map service other than Google Maps?
Yes. The generator accepts a complete public HTTP or HTTPS link. Test whether that service presents the location usefully on your audience’s devices.
Will scanning open a maps app automatically?
It may open an app, a browser, or a chooser. That behaviour is controlled by the service, operating system, and installed apps.
Can the code give someone access to a private saved map?
It does not change permissions. Share an accessible link and test it while signed out of the account that created the map.
