Inspect the saved contact, not only the preview
Use a business test card and compare the saved name, organisation, title, phone, email and website on representative contact apps. An importer can display names or folded fields differently while the QR payload itself remains correct. Avoid distributing private details just to test compatibility.
If the person changes roles, keep a replacement plan for printed cards and already downloaded images. A new QR image cannot edit a contact someone previously saved. For frequently changing information, consider a public profile page under a stable URL instead.
Choose the details someone should save
- Enter at least a first or last name. Add the other fields only when they are useful to the recipient.
- Use a reachable phone number and a complete website address beginning with http:// or https://. Check email spelling before generating.
- Add company and job-title information if it identifies the contact. These fields are optional, not a separate hosted business profile.
- Wait for Payload verified, then scan the downloaded image and inspect the proposed name, telephone number, email, and website in the contact app.
A contact card is different from a link page
The generator builds a vCard 3.0 payload containing the supplied details. It is not a link to an editable online profile and does not require eToolPlus to host the contact information. A compatible reader may offer to add the card to contacts; another reader may show its text instead.
The form supports first name, last name, phone, email, company, job title, and website. It does not currently include a postal address, birthday, contact photograph, or several phone numbers. The optional QR logo decorates the image; it is not stored as the contact’s profile photo.
Accented names and dense cards
The payload uses UTF-8 and escapes punctuation used by the contact format. Long vCard lines are folded at byte boundaries without splitting a Unicode character. For example, an accented name such as José should remain part of the decoded data, rather than being flattened to plain ASCII.
Those checks do not certify every contact importer. Test the card on representative phones, including the saved contact rather than just the scanner’s preview. A card with many long fields creates a denser QR image; shorten optional details or increase the printed size if the print assistant flags small modules.
Share only information meant to be public
Anyone with the QR image can decode its contact details. Use business contact information when making a public card, and get the relevant person’s permission before distributing their private number or address. The generator does not add a password or access control to the contact card.
A printed card remains fixed if someone changes jobs or telephone numbers. Generate a new code for revised details. If you need a profile you can update at the same URL, link to your own webpage with the website generator instead.
Questions about this tool
Will scanning save a contact automatically?
The reader or contact app controls the import and normally presents a choice. Check the fields before accepting the import.
Can I use the contact logo as a saved profile picture?
No. Logo styling changes the QR image only; this form does not include a vCard photo field.
Can bulk generation make contact cards from a contact spreadsheet?
Not in the current bulk tool, which accepts website URLs. Use this form for an individual contact card.
